Gaylord B. Haiwick, the son of Knute & Gunda (Kverneland) Haiwick, was born in Washington Twp., Hyde County, South Dakota on October 31, 1910.

He married Edith "Bernice" (Tompkins), daughter of Arthur L. & Iva D. Tompkins, February 14, 1937 in Hughes Co., SD. They ranched in Bramhall Twp, Hyde Co., until they retired in 1969 and moved into Highmore. They had two children, Janet & Gary.

Gaylord served on the boards of Bramhall Township and School Board, and on the Ree Electric Co-op board. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, a bowling league, and the Hyde County Senior Citizen Center.

He died February 23, 1988.

He was preceded by his parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
