Delbert Lee Clem, 86, LaPorte, IN, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015 at 10:45 a.m. in the home of his son.He was born November 27, 1928 in Chesterton, Indiana to the late Roscoe and Marie (Rintz) Clem.
On January 29, 1954 in he married Velma Irene Asztalos who preceded him on January 10, 1993.
Surviving are his five children: Dennis Clem of Valparaiso, IN, Denise (Erbin) Hullett of Knox, IN, June (Scott) Morrison of Ora, IN, Linda Decker of Monterey, IN and Carol (Steve) Griffin of LaPorte, IN; nine grandchildren: Philip, Brian, Amanda, Nathan, David, Stacy, Vanessa, Jonathan and Nicole; eleven grreat-grandchildren; and two sisters: Dollie Coppes of Chesterton, IN and Betty Schultz of Chesterton, IN.
He was preceded in death by his grandchild, Delbert Clem, Jr.; two brothers: Durwood 'Butch" Clem and Roscoe Clem, Jr.; and four sisters: Dorothy Clem, Zelma Clem, Marjorie Schilla and Darlene Hart.
He retired from the Operating Engineers Local 150. Delbert proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
