Jack Elliott Brewer age 84, died Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Hospice Wendover. Born in Gaston County on February 12, 1930 he was the son of the late James Ellis and Ellen Victoria Auten Brewer. He was a faithful member of Zoar Baptist Church. He served in the Korean War in the U. S. Air Force. He was an inspector for the Department of Transportation for 30 years and also served as a Cleveland County Bailiff for 15 years. When his health was good, Jack was on a bowling league and won many trophies. He enjoyed farming, going out to eat, and spending time with his wife and family. In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by his three brothers, J. D. Brewer, Adrian Brewer, and Paul Brewer; and six sisters, Lula Summey, Bryte Hurst, Hazel Black, Mary Weathers, Addie Ballard and Virginia Paysour.

Jack is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Nancy Peace Brewer; three sons, Tom Brewer and wife Gloria of MA., Tim Brewer and wife Becky of Asheville, and Ken Ruppe of Wadesboro; a daughter, Lisa Lowery and husband Danny of Shelby; two sisters, Betty Woody, and Molly Spivey both of Dallas; two brothers, Bill Brewer and Ben Brewer and wife Lynn all of Dallas; seven grandchildren, Thomas Brewer and wife Stacy, Timmy Brewer, Jamie Scott and husband Doug, Alex Ruppe and wife Wendee, Ashley Kearney, Brooke Brewer, and Bradley Brewer; 12 great grandchildren; beloved canine companion “Zaggy”, and brothers and sisters-in-law.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 12, 2015 in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Rob Helton officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm, and an hour before the funeral from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
