LIMA — Roy A. Lawson, 72, passed away at 3:55 a.m. December 28, 2014, in his home. Roy was born August 8, 1942 in Inman, VA, to Isaac and Pearl (Hawkins) Lawson who have preceded him in death.

His wife of 40 years, Mary Hawkins, preceded him in death on March 31, 2006.

He was an avid NASCAR fan, whose favorites were Dale Earnhardt Sr., and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Roy was a member of Grace Fellowship Church. He will be remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather, and friend who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his five children, Richard Lawson of Belle Center, Larry Lawson of Indianapolis, IN, Brian Lawson of Fostoria, Terry (Mandy) Hawkins of St Marys, Shari Hawkins of Lima; his four step-sons, David (Stacey) Hawkins of IN, Donald (Julie) Hawkins of Grover Hill, Doyle Hawkins of Lima, and Darvin Hawkins of Lima; numerous grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Lawson of Edgerton, and Danny Lawson of Lima; his sister, Emma Martin of Lima; and his first wife, Doris Shaffer of Kenton.

He was preceded in death by his step-son, Doug Hawkins; three brothers, Charles, Harold, and Homer Lawson; and his sister, Estelle Morris.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at CHILES - LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Pastor Nathan Branim will officiate the service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
