Mable Irene Acox, age 84, passed away at her home on Jan. 6, 2015, at Lone Grove. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest with Dana Burchett officiating. Cremation to follow under the direction of Hillcrest Crematory, Ardmore.


Mable was born in Harrisburg, S.D., on Dec. 22, 1930, to Marvin and Anna (Andreasen) White. She was a devoted housewife until 1968, when she went to work at the Ardmore Adventist Hospital, working in the kitchen. She then went to work for Elmbrook Nursing Home in the kitchen for nine years. She also took very good care of her grandchildren and loved them all dearly; they all felt the same way about her. Everyone loved her cooking. After a thorough study of the Bible, she came to know Jehovah and his qualities as well as his purpose for the earth and humans. She dedicated her life to him on July 2, 2005.


She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Douglas Acox Sr.; brothers, Gene and Duane White; sister, Irma Wickware; and parents, Marvin and Anna White.


Mable is survived by her daughters, Shelia Hunt and husband, Thomas, Sherrie Pierce and husband, Bill and Sandy Acox; sons, Douglas Jr. Acox and wife, Teresa and Jerry Acox and wife, Debi; grandchildren, Tera Hunt, Greg Hunt, Jeff Hunt, Billy and Carol Pierce, Melanie and Scott Richards, Tammie and Mark Lewis, Kim Clark, Brian Acox, Jennifer and Toby Hammer, Jayanna Acox and Jayme McGowan; great-grandchildren, Sean Hunt, Winter Garmon, Mason and Landry Hunt, Tera and Jacob Grado, Billy Baker, Heather Pierce, Jake Richards, Kaci and Dustin Colbert and Ezekiel and Noah Pierce; and great-great-grandchildren, Levi Grado, Dieago Grado, Deston Grado, Bella Pierce, Cooper Pierce, Emersyn Colbert, Ethan Hammer, Blaydon Hammer and Jaycee Hammer.


She was lovingly cared for by Cross Timbers nurses, Tina Bass, Regina Shubert, Shannon Parker and Stephanie Povendo. Dr. Hamill and Dr. McCulloh are appreciated as well
