PFC Bill Leyden was a Marine in the now famous K Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division (K/3/5). Leyden served with Authors / Marines Eugene B. Sledge & R.V. Burgin. He was wounded twice by explosions, once on Peleliu, and the other on Okinawa. After the war Leyden became a pro golfer and was in car sales. In 2010 his life as a Marine (a small part) was depicted in the HBO mini-series "The Pacific."
