KATHLEEN V. "KAY" (PILEGGI) MAGLIE
SAL MAGLIE'S WIFE IS DEAD AT 48
( February 22, 1967 )
Mrs. Kathleen V. "Kay" Maglie, 48, wife of Boston Red Sox pitching coach Sal Maglie, died Wednesday (February 22, 1967) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital. She resided at 2413 Park View Drive.
Her husband, a former pitcher for the New York Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers had been slated to leave the same day for spring practice with the Red Sox.
Mrs. Maglie, the former Kathleen Pileggi, was born in the Province of Ontario and moved to Niagara Falls in 1923. She attended schools here, graduating from Niagara Falls High School in 1936.
She was a member of the Mothers Club of Sacred Heart Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Salvatore, Jr., and Joseph, both at home; her mother, Mrs. Philomena Pileggi; a sister, Mrs. Casimer (Mary) Yurkonis, and two brothers, John and Carl Pileggi, all of this city.
A Mass of Requiem will be sung Saturday at 9:15 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church after 8:30 a.m. services at the M.J. Colucci Funeral Chapel.
Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Friends may call today and Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. The Rosary will be recited Friday at 8 p.m. at the chapel by members of the Mother's Club.

A Mass of Christian Burial for major-league pitching star Sal "The Barber" Maglie will be offered at 11:45 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 1122 27th St., following prayers at 11:15 in the M.J. Colucci & Son Funeral Chapel, 468 19th St.
Entombment will be in the Mausoleum at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Maglie, 75, died Monday (Dec. 28, 1992) in Niagara Falls Memorial Nursing Home.
Mayor Jacob A. Palillo has directed that flags on all public buildings in Niagara Falls be flown at half staff Thursday in tribute to Maglie, who was born and raised in Niagara Falls.
