Shelby is my cousin. He was born in 1927 to the late Curtis Monroe and Codie Mathews Hartzog of Bascom, Florida. His sister is Vivian Peeler of Malone,Florida.Shelby married Mozelle A. Hartzog. They had a daughter,Barbara Olive of Dothan,Alabama,and a son,the late Donald Wayne Hartzog. He and Mozelle had 3 granddaughters.
Everyone who knew Shelby really liked him. He was a humble person. He and Mozelle lived across the highway from his parents. Everytime my parents and I would go down there for visit,he would always come over and see us.
Shelby worked at a Chevrolet dealership in Marianna,Florida. He almost always tuned-up my Dad's car everytime we went down there.
Sadly,Mozelle lost her mind. Shelby kept her at home with him as long as he could. He finally had to put her in a nursing home. Around 6 months later Shelby passed away in 2000 with cancer. Mozelle passed away in 2004.
Shelby is truly missed by all his friends and family.
