F. Dale Ayres

SHINNSTON — F. Dale “Pappy” Ayres, 76, of Wallace, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg.

He was born February 7, 1935, in West Newton, PA, a son of the late Floyd and Mabel Dale Ayres.

Mr. Ayres is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Bonnie Jackson Ayres, whom he married on November 20, 1996.

Also surviving are his children, Debbie Ayres Davis and husband Charlie of Fairmont, Tammie Ayres McArthur and husband Kenneth of Stratton, CO, David Ayres and wife Elaine of Chesterfield, VA, Criss Davis and wife Sarah of Enterprise, Eric Davis and wife Joyce of Wallace, and Patricia Ashcraft and husband Ronald of Wallace; grandchildren, Jamie Harki, Brittnie Wigham, Johnny Griffin, Kaitlin McArthur, Amanda Ayres, Criss “Dink” Davis II, SSC, Melissa Peele, Deputy Sheriff Shawn Davis, Justin Davis, Matthew Davis, Ashley Ashcraft, Amber Ashcraft, Angela Ashcraft and April Ashcraft; as well as 11 great-grandchildren; his brother, Tom Ayres and wife Susan of Youngwood, PA and their children, Matthew Ayres, Captain Andrew Ayres, Chaplain and Jennifer Pennington; and several loving cousins.

In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by an infant son, Richard Dale Ayres.

Dale was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a member of the Fairmont Moose Lodge 9 as well as the Monessen Rod and Gun Club in Pennsylvania. He was an avid WVU and Steelers fan. Dale enjoyed sitting by the fish pond that he had built for his wife Bonnie.

Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, Shinnston on Friday from 2-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor George Heitman officiating.

Interment will follow at the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery.
