A.H. Golladay Dies Subbenly, Higginsville Jeffersonian
The community was startled Thursday evening by the news of the death of one of our most respected citizens, A.H. Golliday. He was apparently in his usual health when he went out about 5 o'clock to do his chores. While engaged in his work he was stricken with heart disease, but succeeded in alarming the household who came to his aid and got him into the house, where he expired about 20 minutes later.
Mr. Golliday had been a resident of this vicinity upwards of thirty-two years and numbered his friends by the score. He was born in Lynchburg, Va., and had reached the age of 74 years and 9 months. He was the father of 18 children, ten of whom with their mother, survive to mourn the loss of a king parent and a loving devoted husband. At the age of 24 he united with the Southern Methodist church and remained a faithful and consistent member throughout his life.
The funeral services were conducted from the late residence at 2 p.m. Saturday, By Rev. A.L. Marshall, and interment was made in the city cemetery.
