Jesse James Lackey was born on November 13, 1879 in Sparta, Tennessee, the son of William Lackey.

He was married about 1911 to Edna E Jackson (1893-1942), the daughter of Andrew Jackson and Sallie (Jordan) Jackson (ca 1872- ).

Retired from "general work" and living at 308 37th Avenue North, Nashville, he was 68 years old and a widower when he died of a "cerebral concussion" on July 9, 1948 in an automobile accident in Nashville and was pronounced DOA at Nashville General Hospital. Burial was three days later in Spring Hill Cemetery, Nashville.
