Virginia was the daughter of James R. Damrel and Georgia Bennett Damrel.

Virginia was two and half years old when her mother died in 1925.

The 1930 census revealed she was living with her fathers parents in Afton, Ottawa Co, Oklahoma. Household members: John Damrel (72), Tempie Emeline Damrel (74) and Virginia Hope Damrel (7).

The 1940 census revealed Virgina Damrel (17) was living at St. John Vianney Training School for Girls in Fry, Tulsa Co, Oklahoma. In 1935 she was living in Afton, Ottawa Co, Oklahoma.

Jack Brescia and Virginia Damrel married on July 23, 1942 in Roswell, Georgia.

On July 7, 1956 their week old daughter, Mary Nell Brescia died.

Virginia Hope Brescia, 88 of Columbus GA died Sunday, January 2, 2011 at her residence.

Mrs. Brescia was born December 3, 1922 in Joplin, Missouri, the only child of James Daniel and Georgia Bennett Daniel.

She was a homemaker who went to school in her early 40's and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She retired from the Medical Center after some 20 years of devoted service as a nurse.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack M. Brescia.

Mrs. Brescia is survived by one daughter, Virginia B (Bobby) Johnston of Columbus, Ga; three sons, John R. (Pam) Brescia of Columbus, Ga, J. Michael (Kenna) Brescia of Orlando, Fl and Paul D. (Patty) Brescia of California; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Billy (Claudia) Brescia of Columbus, Ga; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Virginia lived to the age of 88.
