Unknown newspaper: Nov 1939.
John S Jameson, aged 71, one of Butler county's prominent citizens, died suddenly Sunday night, November 26, at his home in Fairview township. Born on the farm on which he died, Mr. Jameson was a life-long resident of the township and one of its most loyal citizens. For many years he had been a producer of oil and gas and also a prosperous farmer. Although occupied with his business affairs, he found time to devote to civic affairs and was a leader in community advancement. He had been a member of the school board of the district continuously for a long period of time and took a personal interest in educational affairs and youth movements.

From childhood he had been a member of the United Presbyterian church and was a member of the committee which had charge of the construction of the Fairview United Presbyterian Church. For thirty-five years he was a trustee of the congregation and clerk for the same time.

Mr. Jameson attended the services on Sunday and was apparently in good health. It was about five o'clock in the evening when he started for the barn to attend to the night work and while walking between the house and the barn he fell dead from a heart attack.

In connection with his duties as schoool director for 40 years he was instrumental in providing a consolidated school for Fairview township-Karns City borough which was the first consolidated school in Butler county. He had been secretary of the Butler county school directors association for eight years and secretary of the County Board of School Directors.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Harriett A. Jameson; two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Rock of Pittsburgh, and Mrs. Marian Rock of Detroit. a son, Dr. J. H. Jameson of Pittsburgh; and nine grandchildren; two brothers, Fred H. of Karns City, R.D. 2 and Dr. W.B. Jameson of Bethlehem; and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Ralston of Tarkio, Mo., and Miss Flora J Jameson of Sangle Hill, India. Funeral servides were held from the Fairview United Presbyterian Church on Wednesday afternoon by Rev. R.C. Sherrard, pastor of the church. Burial was made in the Bear Creek cemetery.
