George Prodan, 65, of Carmichaels, R. D. 1, died at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 1986, in the Good Samaritan Hospital, Baltimore, Md. He was born January 24 1921, in Nemacolin, a son of Mrs. Peter (Mary) Horwath of Carmichaels and the late George Prodan, Sr. His wife, Rose Vignovich Prodan, survives. He lived all of his life in the Nemacolin and Carmichaels areas. He was a member of St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church in Carmichaels and had served as an usher at the church. He was a retired coal miner and machinist and was employed by the U.S. Steel Corporation. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in Europe during World War II. He was a past grand knight of the JFK Council 3659 Knights of Columbus of Carmichaels and a member of Masontown American Legion and the United Mine Workers Filbert Shop. He is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. Nelson (Marianne) Gideon of Carmichaels; two sons, George J. Prodan of San Ramon, Calif., and Mark A. Prodan of Carmichaels; four brothers, Alex Prodan and Richard Prodan, both of Carmichaels; Robert Horwath of San Angelo, Texas and Joseph Horwath of Streetsboro, Ohio; and a sister, Mrs. Al (Frances) Zemba Helmick of Seven Hills, Ohio.
