Francis A. "Bud" Hatzer, 77, of Streator, passed away Friday (Jan. 16, 2015) at Parker Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Streator.

Born Feb. 19, 1937 in Streator, he was the son of Francis J. and Gertrude Devera Hatzer. He married Sharon M. Sabol on June 18, 1960 at St. Patrick's Church in Minonk. She survives.

He is also survived by sons, Scott (Kelly) Hatzer and Randy (Naomi) Hatzer; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his brother-in-law, Byron (Joy) Sabol; his sister-in-law, Bernadette Oltman and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Patrick Hatzer in infancy and a brother-in-law, Tom Bakalar.

Born and raised in Streator, he attended St. Stephen's grade school and graduated from Streator High School, Class of 1954. He served in the U.S. Army for two years. He was stationed in Fort Lewis in Washington.

He worked at Owens Illinois Glass Co. for 46 years in the mold shop, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the former St. Stephen's Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Parish. He was a member of Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council No. 790 and Fourth-degree Streator Assembly 2109 of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Sons and Friends of Erin.

Bud was active in his church and co-chaired the Pastor's and Men's Communion Breakfast for many years. He loved to golf and bowl and was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus golf and bowling leagues. Bud loved spending time at his cabin in Wisconsin with his family and friends.
