Eliza Jane Pounds was a daughter of Newman Madison Pounds and Mary "Polly" Albright of Cleburne Co., AL. She married Lewis Green Bennett and they had thirteen children:

Unknown - Per the 1900 US Census, Eliza was the mother of 13 children, with 12 children living.

Her husband, Lewis, enlisted in Company F, 25th Alabama Infantry of the CSA in October, 1861 and was discharged in June, 1862. He reenlisted in the CSA in March, 1863 for three months and later served in the Home Guards from August, 1863 to April, 1865. Lewis was listed as a prisoner of war and was paroled in 1865 in Talladega, AL. Eliza petitioned the government for several years regarding Lewis' military pension, but she never obtained it.

According to the Alabama Deaths, Lewis S. Bennett died on Feb. 01, 1916 in Cleburne Co., AL. However, no burial information has been found to date on Lewis Sherman Bennett, Maria V. Bennett, or the thirteenth unknown child.
