Clarence Henry West, jr. was the older of the two sons of Clarence and Eloise Peach West of Louisville, Alabama. He received his early schooling in Louisville schools and graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He married Mildred Elizabeth Morton and with her he had two children; Millie, married Joseph Lisenby; and Clarence West, III married Charlotte Rainer of Ozark. His first job was with an engineering unit of the Resettlement Administration of the U.S.Government in Sumpter, South Carolina. Later he served as the County Engineer of Ozark, Pickens and Covington Counties. When he was 65 years old Clarence was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor and died in a Columbus, Georgia hospital. He is buried in the West plot in the Louisville, Alabama cemetery.
