Bernice D. (Johnston) Bandy, 94, of Hillsboro, died on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at Montgomery Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Private funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 19, with the Rev. Joy Caschetta officiating. Burial was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Donnellson

Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bandy was born on June 2, 1920, in St. Genevieve, MO, a daughter of the late Raymond and Lula (Bell) Johnston. She graduated from Mulberry Grove High School in 1936.

She married Loren Bandy in St. Louis on March 21, 1939, and he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Bandy was a self-employed hairdresser for over 30 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Hillsboro and past member of the Hilllsboro Business and Professional Women's Club and the Hairdressers' Association. She enjoyed flowers and gardening.

She is survived by one daughter, Ruth Ann (husband Jim) Heselov of Hillsboro; a grandson; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Emmi Jean Jackson of Greenville.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Johnston, and two sisters, Roberta Haudenshield and Mildred Bissett.
