Mr. June William “Dickie” Murray, 74, of Spartanburg went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 19, 2015. He was the loving husband of Janice Ridings Murray and the son of the late Luther Murray, Sr. and Mary Horne Murray.
He was a truck driver for 27 years. He was a faithful member of Carolina Baptist Church. He enjoyed collecting NASCAR items, listening to his police scanner and telling anyone that would listen that his grandson is a state trooper and “Papa’s hero.” Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Debbie Wilson (Larry) of Anderson; son, Dale Murray (Barbara) of AL; brothers, Buddy (Pat) and Jimmy Murray; sisters, Betty Ann Denton (Larry), Brenda Byars, Becky Collins, Midge Murray and Becky Murray; grandchildren, Keith Wilson, Abby Bell (Chris), Charis Wilson, Alicia Kelley (Ryan) and Candace Murray; and his great-grandson, Fisher Bell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara Webster and Delores Busick; brothers, Everette Horne, Ronnie Murray, Harold Murray and Jackie Murray.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 20, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Eggers Funeral Home of Chesnee.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Carolina Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Wilson, Rev. Marc Williamson and Rev. Frankie Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Springhill Memorial Gardens.
Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to Carolina Baptist Church, 256 Floyd Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
