Mrs. Ara Bullock Carlton, 81, Shopville, died Saturday at her residence after an illness of several days.

She was born at Stab on December 8, 1890, the daughter of Jonas and Hannah Mize Bullock, both deceased.

She married the late Emmett H. Carlton on May 2, 1907, at Stab.

Survivors include three sons, James Edwin Carlton of Greenfield, Indiana, Lloyd Carlton of Indianapolis, and Orville Carlton of Stab; three daughters, Ora Mounce of Ferguson, Alpha Phelps of Drum, and Mildred McWhorter of Shopville; a half-brother, Milton Adkins of California; 30 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She had lived here all of her life, was a housewife, and a member of the Pleasant Run Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Somerset Undertaking Company with Rev. Delbert Binder officiating.

Burial will be in the Short Creek Cemetery.
