Betty Jean Alexander passed away peacefully Nov. 18 at her Fort Collins home with her daughter Ann, her son John and her cat Diva by her side. Born April 6, 1926 in Arvada Colorado to U.F. and Margaret Hines, Betty lived in Fort Collins for 63 years. She married Robert Richey Alexander in Arvada on Sept. 7, 1947. They moved to Fort Collins in 1949 where Robert began his career as a research forester. Some of her most fond memories where the many times she spent in Frazier Colo. where her husband conducted much of his research of his on the Roosevelt National Forest. Betty met former President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1953 when he visited the Frazier Experimental Station and her husband had the privilege of taking him on a tour and later he asked them both to dine with him.
Betty worked at Fort Collins High School for 18 years as a media aide. It was a job she said she would only do for few years, be she enjoyed it so much it lasted nearly 2 decades. She loved to play bridge, travel and attended water aerobics classes at the Fort Collins Club. She was a diehard fan of the Denver Broncos, the Denver Nuggets and the Colorado Rockies.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents, her brother Jack Hines, her sister in law Dorothy Tipton and brother in law Dr. Harry Tipton. She is survived by her daughter Ann, son John, sister in law Betty Hines, seven nephews and one niece.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Fort Collins, Colorado.
