Our family was always told that Max and his siblings descended from a full-blood Cherokee. After he and his wife Betty had both passed away, I found sufficient information in their home to trace his lineage through his mother. They are indeed descended from Nan-ye (1750-1860). Her name was altered to become Nancy and she married Lewis Taylor (1740-1815) Their daughter Sybil Taylor married Robert Lankford. And several generations later There is the Bennett family we have known and loved.
