George Asbury Gaddis, age 84, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at The Homestead.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Fain Asbury and Clora Grooms Gaddis. He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Keith Gaddis; a sister, Maxine Ashe; a brother, Robert Gaddis; a half-brother, H. Richard Hall. He was a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean conflict and was a member of Mountain View Church of God. George enjoyed fishing and was a good mentor to his employees.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Norma Jean Wiggins Gaddis; a sister, Grace Jimison of Canton; three brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard and Doris Wiggins, Carl and the late Anne Wiggins, Linda Maney, and Sheila and Jack Patton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Mountain View Church of God with the Reverend Bobby Brooks, Reverend Herman Toney, and Reverend Ben Black officiating. Burial was at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. Wells Funeral Home of Canton was in charge of arrangements.
