Darius Carl Anderson, passed away at his home, January 11, 2015. He was 73 years old.

Born June 6, 1941 in Lenoir, NC, he was the son of the late Carl and Lethel Anderson.

He attended Gamewell High School where he was a star athlete. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1966. He moved to Hickory in 1968 after marrying his wife Carole of 46 years.

He was a generous and caring man whom loved his family and many friends. He was a strong man who lived life with gusto and was his own person. He had the gift of hospitality and his home was a gathering place for family and friends to watch a ballgame or just sit and talk. He had a passion for gardening and loved to share the harvest. He was President of Anderson Brothers Electrical Co., Inc. and was admired by his employees and colleagues. He loved the game of golf. He was a lifetime member of the Hickory Elks Lodge for 32 years where he served as an officer, filling every chair but one. He was a diehard UNC Tarheel fan. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Unity Evangelical Lutheran Church on Thursday, January 15, 2015 with the Rev. John Woodard officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at the church. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 48. Memorials may be made to the Hickory Elks Lodge, 356 Main Avenue, NW, Hickory, NC 28601 or Unity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3025 Falling Creek Rd., Hickory, NC 28601. Bass-Smith Funeral Home in Hickory is serving the family of Darius Carl Anderson.
