Omar Ali Aswad was born on November 6, 1981 and departed to be with the angels on October 31, 2014. He was a graduate of Maury High School and employed as a Merchant Mariner. He recently completed training and advanced to 3rd Mate. Omar was a soccer player with Children of the Sun Athletic/Education Foundation where he won numerous tournaments along with his team players. Omar was a true motivator not only to his soccer team but also to his family, friends and fellow Seamen. He enjoyed being on the water navigating ships and spending time with his family and friends. Omar was kind, very caring, and always thought of others before himself. His smile and his spirit was as bright as the stars and he bought life to everyone he was around. Omar was preceded by his mother, Frances Aswad. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, father Abdul L. Aswad (Inga); sister, Annette Beamon (Gerald); niece, Keyanna; daughters, Amyia and Elisa (mother Desiree); Grandfather and Grandmother, Reverend Dr. Elmer Phillips and Sister Patsy Phillips; two aunts, Helen Williams and Joyce Aquil; special friends, Daira Persons and Dominique Hoskins; cousins, uncles and a host of friends.
