John Russell Wickersham, 73, Lynn route 2, died unexpectedly, Monday morning, March 31, 1980 at the Reid Memorial Hospital, Richmond.
He was a lifelong resident of the Carlos and Huntsville area. He was a member of the Richmond Salvation Army. He was a well known hunter and sportsman in the area and was a retired carpenter and farmer.
Surviving are the widow, Violet(Root)Wickersham; one daughter, Mrs. Carolyn McCollum of Cincinnati,O., three sons, J.D. of Richmond, Paul of Carlos and Perry of Winchester; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren; one step daughter, Betty Bunidge of Vandalia, O., two stepsons, Floyd Root, Jr. and George Root, both of Union City; nine step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs Mabel Jackson of Lynn, Mrs Pauline Stevenson of Carlos, Mrs. Martha Hatfield of Fenton, Mich,. Mrs. Marjorie Davis of Spring Valley, Utah and Mrs. Ethel May Knowles of Iowa; two brothers, Robert and Keith Wickersham, both of Richmond.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Thomas Funeral Home, Lynn with the Rev. Larry Thomas officiating, assisted by Salvation Army Captain Robert Quinn. Burial will be in the Fountain Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
