MARIETTA -- Eugene Erastus Sumerford, 79, of Acworth, died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005, at Kennestone Hospital, Marietta, after a short illness.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, in Oak Grove Cemetery in Americus.
Mr. Sumerford, affectionately known by his family and friends as Sonnie, was born in Sumter County and lived in Cobb County for 30 years. He attended North Georgia College and worked for Davison's and Sears as an auditor before working for the Cobb County School System for over 10 years. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Americus.
His sister, Sara Maude Sumerford Ricketson, preceded him in death. His parents were Eugene Erastus and Maude Hitt Sumerford.
Sonnie was dearly loved by all his family.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, Oct. 20, at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta.
