Mary Bell Francis Ahnert 1925 - 2008
Mary Bell Francis Ahnert, 82, of Great Bend, died June 1 at the Presbyterian Manor in Sterling. Born Oct. 25, 1925, in San Antonio, Texas, she was the daughter of Joseph Lee and Edna I. Stevenson Yancey. She was a graduate of
Ellinwood High School. She married Donald G. Ahnert on June 3, 1946, in Great Bend. A longtime resident of Great Bend, having lived the past one and one-half years in Sterling, she was retired from Hughes Aircraft as a silkscreen operator in Tucson, Ariz. Mrs. Ahnert was a member of the Peace Church in Hudson, Eastern Star in Beggs, Okla., a Girl Scout leader and a school bus driver, both in Grants, N.M., and the Aerospace Union.

Survivors include her husband, Donald, of the home; three sons, Donald Joe Ahnert and Ronald G. Ahnert and wife Uana, all of Chandler, Ariz., and Robert L. Ahnert and wife Gail of Nickerson; a daughter, Dianna K. Ball and husband Roger of Mesa, Ariz.; a sister, Betty Jo St. Germaine of Tucson, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lee H. Yancey and Robert Harley Yancey; and a granddaughter, Jamie Ahnert.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Peace Church, four miles north of Hudson, with the Rev. Roger Ball officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Peace Church in care of Birzer Funeral Home in Sterling.
