Francis “Frank” Ahern was born at Sidney, Nebraska, on December 19, 1927. He was the son of William Ahern and Frances Geary. Before his second birthday his family moved from their farm near Sidney to a farm/ranch in Lake County, Montana.

Frank was married to Della Cromwell on June 10, 1956. They lived in Missoula, Lolo and Alberton in Montana, before moving to Spokane, Washington, in 1989. They had four children, two sons and two daughters. During their time in Montana Frank worked for a trucking firm, the Prestolog plant in Missoula, Western Montana Co-op and the State Highway Department. He retired in 1982.

Frank died at Spokane on April 7, 1993. Funeral services were held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Missoula, with interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Missoula. Frank was survived by his wife and children; eight grandchildren; his younger brother Bernard; and three sisters, Ellen (Woods), Mary (Flynn) and Clara (Reynoldson). He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother William and an infant sister. Joe’s wife died in 1998.
