Daughter of Angus & Prudence (McKenzie) Kirk, and widow, lastly of Joseph Boggs, and firstly of John Tate Sr., of Saint Marys River (Glenelg & Aspen) and East River Pictou.

Her sons moved to Bisbee, Arizona, and Mogollon, New Mexico, as gold and silver miners, and her daughter died while visiting her daughters, after Christmas, in Haverhill, Mass. (bur. South Lochaber, N.S.).

At the time of her death, Mary was living with her sister, brother-in-law and nephew, Margaret, Ashel and Fred Taylor.

 res. 1881 St Marys Forks NS, age 18,
  with his mother, brothers, step-father Joseph Boggs, and step-siblings.
