THE NAME was originally MORSE BUT some of the family changed their NAME TO MOSS while others kept the MORSE name. The reason for this Name change unknown--possibly it was pronounced Moss so they just started to spell it that way.

PHILLIP A. MOSS SUCCUMBS IN HOSPITAL:
RITES SET WEDNESDAY
Phillip A. Moss, 112 Bronson St., a resident of this area all his life, died Saturday at 1:50 p.m. at St. Mary's hospital where he had been a patient eight days.
Funeral services are scheduled Wednesday at 2 p.m. from
the Elias chapel, with burial occurring in Phillips cemetery.
The deceased was born May 13, 1879 in Reading Township,
the son of William and Nancy (Kennedy) Moss. He was married to Rosia Miller Aug. 26, 1901 in Streator. His wife preceded him in death in 1954.
Surviving are two sons, George, of Streator and Wallace of Rockford; two daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Lucille) Sauer and Miss Jessie Moss, both of Streator; five grand- children, three great grandchildren, and a brother, Edward Moss of Santa Maria, Calif.
Mr. Moss worked for many years at the Anthony Company,
retiring in 1957. He was a member of Edina Lodge, 391, I.O.O.F.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m.Tuesday. The Odd Fellows will conduct services at 7 o'clock that evening.

SERVICES HELD FOR PHILLIP A. MOSS

Funeral services for Phillip A. Moss were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Elias Funeral Home with Rev. Edward P. Gabel, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran church, officiating.
Mrs. Merritt Setchel sang two selections accompanied by Mrs. Harry Barber.
Acting as pallbearers were William Kirk, Arland Carr, Walter Dutkiewicz, Gerald Spivey, Raymond Clayton and Frances Miller.
In charge of the flowers were Mrs. Gerald Spivey, Miss Jerri Lynn Spivey and Miss Nancy Kay Moss.
Burial was in Phillips Cemetery.
Edina Lodge No. 391 IOOF held services Tuesday evening at
7 o'clock with William F. Uebler, noble grand, and Ray Eutsey, chaplain, in charge.
Attending from a distance were W. E. Moss and daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Leyda of Santa Maria, Cal., and Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Moss and family of Rockford.
