RAYMOND BUTLER

A reburial service for Pvt. Raymond Butler, 24, son of Alonzo and Irene
Butler, will take place on Thursday, December 30, at 2:00 p.m. at the Winterburg
Funeral Home, Grantsville, with the Rev. D. J. Combs, pastor of the Grantsville
Methodist Church, officiating.
Full military honors at the grave in the New Germany cemetery were accorded by
Grantsville Post 214 American Legion under Commander Wayne Durst.
Born May 18, 1920 in Garrett County, Pvt. Butler entered the Army on August
14, 1942.
Surviving besides his parents are three brothers and five sisters.

Meyersdale Republican, January 6, 1949Raymond served as a Private in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Garrett County, Maryland prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on August 13, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a lumbermen and also as Single, without dependents.

Raymond "Died Of Wounds" during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
