Edgar Hollis Rawls, 91, of Poplarville, Mississippi, died Saturday, January 24, 2015 in Pearl River County Hospital, Poplarville.

Funeral services will be at WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 315 Highway 11 South, Poplarville, MS, 39470 on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Ford's Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Rawls was born August 31, 1923 in Poplarville, Mississippi to James Ollie and Julia Anderson Rawls. He was a member of Murray Hill Church of God and a retired carpenter. He was a Sergeant First Class (retired) in the Mississippi Army National Guard 1065 Transportation Company in Poplarville and a World War II veteran. He was a jailer with the Pearl River County Sheriff's Department under Sheriffs Lawrence Holliday and James Smith.

Family members include his wife of 68 years, Virgie L. Smith Rawls; three sons, Rickey J. (Freda) Rawls, Ronnie D. Rawls, Paul Michael (Beverly) Rawls; seven grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by six brothers, Horace Rawls, Robert Rawls, Clarence Rawls, Thomas Rawls, Terry Rawls, Bruce Anderson; six sisters, Ollie Mae Presley, Mattie Head, Virginia Johnson, Jewel Tarver, Ada Mae Terry, and Bernice Hardee.
