Art Sharp was born in Cairo, West Virginia to Harley and Carrie Sharp . He was the oldest in a family of three children. He came to California after graduating from high school. He served in WWII, from 1944-1946 in Manila, Philippine Islands. He was part of the 738th Military Police Battalion, serving as Honor Guard to General McArthur.

He was Past Master of Modesto Masonic Lodge 675, Past President of Modesto Scottish Rite, Past President of Modesto Luncheon Club, Past Worthy Patron of Eastern Star 532, and member of San Jose Scottish Rite, Modesto Shrine Club, Aahmes Shrine Club, Past Mastor's Club, Elks Club, American Legion, Charter member of SIRS Organization and first Little Sir of Branch 144, and Past President of The Carousel Dance Club. He was also a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.

He retired as part owner of Stanislaus Industrial Supply Company (SISCO). He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marietta Sharp ; a brother, Herb Sharp of West Virginia; a sister, Clara June Wyatt of Iowa; and three children: Richard Sharp of Washington; Jeffrey Sharp , and Sandra Boone, both of Modesto; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, August 16 at 11:00 AM at Modesto Covenant Church, 913 Floyd Avenue. Reception to follow service. Franklin & Downs- Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
