Soldaat Koninklijke Landmacht - Leerling Vlieger [Sodier Royal Netherlands Army - Student Pilot - Leading Aircraftman (sn: 1815000) R.A.F.]. Stationed at No.31 Elementary Flying Training School (EFTS) in De Winton, Alberta, Canada, he perished in the crash of 31 EFTS's Fairchild Cornell I (#FJ689) aircraft. His instructor Sergeant-Pilot Robert William Torrie also lost his life.

*Recipient of 'The Cross of Merit' - recipient number 590 [an award for "working in the interest of the Netherlands while faced with enemy actions and distinguishing oneself through valour and resolute behaviour"]. Awarded 2 September 1943. For the preparation and execution a plan to escape from occupied Netherlands to England, which he reached after many difficulties.
Also commemorated on the Ottawa Cremation Memorial, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
