Joseph Walter Gromis, 57, of Reading, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015 in the Reading Hospital.
Born on August 6,1957, in West Reading, he was the son of the late Walter J. and Mary M.(Shomper) Gromis.
Joe's gentle and charismatic nature drew people into his world and helped them understand Down Syndrome as just a circum¬stance of his life, not a diagnosis of his abilities.
He worked at Threshold Rehabilitation Services and Prospectus Berco and looked forward to going to work every day.
Joe was a resident of Day-spring Homes, where he was lovingly cared for by Linda DiGiacomo, Sonya Yob and the rest of the wonderful staff.
He was a member of Alsace Lutheran Church, Muhlenberg Township.
Joe is survived by his sister, Gail R.(Gromis), wife of P. David Weyandt of Laureldale; and his niece, Jennifer D. (Weyandt), wife of Robert O'Keefe of Muhlenberg Township.
He was predeceased by his nephew, Bradley D. Weyandt.
