Helen M. Coon, 94, died Jan. 27, 2015, at Wheatlands Healthcare Center, Kingman.
She was born Aug. 27, 1920, the daughter of Jesus and Consuello Casarez Garibay. A longtime Kingman resident, previously of Murdock, she was a wife, mother, grandmother as well as a former USD 331 bus driver and a para-educator at Green Thumb Day Care.
She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church and Altar Society, both of Kingman; and was the former Farm Bureau Safety Chairman.
On Jan. 12, 1947, she married William E. “Bill” Coon at Wichita. Other survivors include sons Michael, Patrick and James; daughters Nicolette Harders, Mary Pond, Esther Brewster, Jennifer Vulgamore and Phyllis Pease; brother Charles Garibay; sister Esther Davis; 36 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughters Kathleen Vulgamore and Anita Ohler; and brothers Benjamin, Reubin and Tobias.
Parish Rosary will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kingman. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, also at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Sunday at Livingston Funeral Home. Burial will be in Upchurch Cemetery, Norwich, Kansas.
Memorials may be made with the St. Patrick Grade School, Wheatlands Healthcare Center and Rivercross Hospice, all in care of Livingston Funeral Home.
