June 17, 1917 - January 23, 2015 OKLAHOMA CITY

Vic was born in Alva, Oklahoma to William and Virginia Hellman.

On May 18, 1947, he married Barbara Smith of Tulsa, and they celebrated 52 years of love, life and laughter before her death in 2000.

A member of "the greatest generation," he attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University, graduated from Oklahoma A&M (OSU) and was inducted into the Army in 1941 for a "one year stint" that turned into 5 years.

Serving with the 45th Division Finance, he saw duty in Germany, France and Italy.

For the next 30 years he served as State Comptroller for the Oklahoma Army National Guard.

Vic was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and member of Our Lord's Community Church.

Preceded in death by Barbara, his three older brothers and one sister, Vic is survived by Linda Manaugh of Oklahoma City, Gary & Gena Hellman of Stillwater, Julie & Randy Cooper of Broken Arrow, nine grandchildren and spouses, six great grandchildren, brother-in-law, Wayne Smith, numerous nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends!

A memorial service will be held at Saint Ann Retirement Center (7501 W. Britton Rd.) on February 2 at 1:00 p.m.

The family expresses its appreciation to the staff at Excell Home Care and Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to The Parkinson Foundation of Oklahoma or The American Cancer Society .
