On 8 October 1850 *Jame Goold (49), wife Bridget (45), children; Elizabeth (15), John (14) and Thomas (2) lived in Township 1 North, 4 West, Brown County, Illinois. NOTE: Names spelled as they appear on original image. James Gould also misspelled in index.
On 29 August 1860 James Gould (59), Mrs. B. Gould (50), children; Thos. (12), Mary (9), Ann (7) and Thomas Brice (50) lived in Mt. Sterling (Post Office), Pea Ridge Township, Brown County, Illinois. James was a farmer.
James's will says Bridget is his wife and children are. Curious it doesn't mention son, John:
Elizabeth
William "Will"
Mary
"Anny"
Thomas
His will also says he has a horse named "Dick", whom he left to William.
NOTE: Headstone appears to have death date of Oct. 11, 1863 but his will says "... James Gould have hereunto set my hand and seal this twelfth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty three", so either the headstone or will is off by one day.
Their son, John died in 1869.
On 17 June 1870 Briget Gould (58), children; Thomas (21), Mary (19), Anna (17), John Monahue (18) and Catherine Lock (6) lived in Post Office area of Mt. Sterling, Pea Ridge Township, Brown County, Illinois.
