Mark C. Viere, 88, died at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines on January 30, 2015. Mark was born on May 26, 1926 to Anton and Alma Viere in Des Moines. He lived in Des Moines his whole life and graduated from Tech High School in 1944. He enlisted in the Navy and served from 1944 to 1946. He was an Electrician's Mate 3rd Class and served in the Marshall Islands in the South Pacific. Mark married Barbara Luther on May 30, 1948. They were married 66 years and had three children together. He retired from Northwestern Bell Phone Company. He enjoyed wood working, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and playing Cribbage, especially with his grand kids. He was a long time member of Evangelical Covenant Church and loved the Lord and his family with all his heart. His uplifting spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. He was very proud of his Danish heritage. Mark is survived by his wife, Barbara; children; Sherry (John) Ryan, Christopher (Krista) Viere, and Douglas (Carol) Viere; a sister, Carla Thompson and seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
