Wyatt Benjamin “Ben” Jellison, 75, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at the Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater, KS. Born December 8, 1938, at the Old Horny Toad Farm near Protection, KS, he was the son of Virgil Leslie and Leda Carol (Webb) Jellison. Ben was nearly a lifetime resident of Protection, KS. He attended Protection Grade School, graduated from Protection High School in 1956, attended Pratt Junior College, and received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Wichita State University in 1971. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1961-1963. He worked for Filson Manufacturing for many years and also worked as a farmer, carpenter, accountant, and administrator of Protection Valley Manor during his life. He was a member of American Legion; V.F.W.; and Protection Golf Course. On February 27, 1965, he married Kala Jeanne Williams at Protection, KS. She preceded him in death on February 9, 2006. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, an infant grandson: Wyatt Gary Jellison; four brothers: Leslie Jellison, Howard Jellison, Byron Lee Jellison, and Victor Jellison; and two sisters: Carol Keller and Beatrice Mann. Ben is survived by three sons: Mark Jellison and wife Shari of Protection, KS, Matt Jellison and wife Liz of Protection, KS, and Mike Jellison and wife Nicci of Coldwater, KS; three sisters: Margaret Simon of Hutchinson, KS, Linda Sue Ballew of Protection, KS, and Verita Larrick and husband Ron of Greensburg, KS; seven grandchildren: Brenna, Rylee, Zachary, Jordyn, Eli, McKenzie, and Emma; and numerous other relatives and friends.
