Kellnersville Man Is Victim of Despndency

Despondent because of general business, although his farm was unencumbered, Andrew Kugel, 77, residing on a farm just off Highway 141 near Kellnersville ended his life late Tuesday afternoon by hanging himself from a rafter in the barn. His body was discovered by his daughter Mary, who went to look for her father when he did not appear for supper. Kugel had expressed himself several times in the past year as dissatisfied with life. He often threatened to end his life but his family always talked him out of it. Yesterday he was last seen shortly after 4 p.m. by Mrs. Kugel who noticed him entering the barn. When he did not appear for supper his daughter went to call him and found his lifeless body. Wenzel Swetlik, a neighbor, was summoned and finding the body still warm cut it down and tried to revive Kugel but without success. Dr. Gerald Rau, Two Rivers, county coroner, was summoned, pronounced it suicide and decided that there would be no inquest.
The deceased was born in Bohemia and came to America with his parents at an early age. They located on the present farm, which the deceased occupied since. His widow and two unmarried daughters, Mary and Anna, survive. The remains were taken to the Husar undertaking parlors in Kellnersville. Funeral arrangements were not completed but services will probably be held Friday.
