Union Soldier. Enrolled in the 37th Ohio Volunteer Infantry on 30 March 1864. He was taken prisoner and released. He was on the sidewheel steamboat the Sultana, when the boiler exploded, causing it to sink on the Mississippi River near Memphis. Over 1,500 lives were lost, many of them were Union soldiers
