Age 101, who lived in Eau Claire, Wisconsin for more than 70 years, died peacefully at home early Monday morning, January 26, 2015, in the company of his loving son Michael Baer. Clement was born on March 15, 1913, in Marshfield, WI, and was the youngest of seven children of Peter and Mary (Schuler) Baer. His paternal grandfather, Nicholas Baer, emigrated from Prussia during the 1850’s, and Clement (“Clem”) was very proud of his German heritage. Clement was a brother to Monsignor Urban Baer of Eastman, Wisconsin.
In October of 1941 Clement was married to Irene Seidl in Marshfield, they moved to Eau Claire, and had four children together. Clement and Irene were married until Irene passed away in late 1982.
In October of 1985, Clement was married to Cecelia Bilbrey, and Clement and Cecelia resided in Eau Claire together until Cecelia died in April of 2002. Clement was first employed by his brother William who established a grocery store in the late 1920’s in Marshfield called “Baer Brothers”, for which Clem made deliveries to local customers for a period of approximately ten years. In the early 1940’s Clement secured employment as a machinist in Eau Claire with White Machine Works, a nationwide leader in its field of producing cylinder liners and sleeves. He worked for White Machine Company until his retirement in 1968. Clement was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Baer (Taylor); and by his grandson, Jason Mudrock.
