Allmand, Charles Melvin "Chuck" Ann Arbor, MI
Age 83, died Friday, October 24, 2008 at the Evangelical Home of Saline. He was born June 22, 1925 in Ann Arbor, the son of Earl and Allene (Becker) Allmand. He graduated from Ann Arbor High School in 1943, the University of Michigan, with a BBA in 1950, MBA in 1951 and Masters degree in Hospital Administration in 1958. He served with the Air Force in the Philippines and Japan during World War II. On July 22, 1950 he married Marian L. Feldkamp and she survives. He worked at the University of Michigan for 33 years, retiring as the Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs. He also spent one year working at the University of California. He was active in the community as a member of the Ann Arbor Jaycees; Kiwanis; Rotary Club, Legion VFW, member of First United Methodist Church Ann Arbor, serving on its board; member and chairman of the board of the Methodist Retirement Community for 30 years; U of M Club; U of M Retirees; and member of the College and University Personnel Association. After retiring, he delivered Motor Meals. He enjoyed attending U of M football and basketball games for 50 years. He also enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing, and meeting his friends for coffee or breakfast. He was a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather and friend, a true gentleman who will be missed by many. He is survived by his wife, Marian Allmand; his children, Barbara (Michael) Bolton of Grosse Pointe Woods; David (Patricia) Allmand of Tampa FL; and Catherine (Scott) Pardon of Ann Arbor; grandchildren, Jeffrey Bolton, Sarah Bolton, Kevin Pardon, Cara Pardon and Hayley Allmand. Also surviving are brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Leon and Lois Feldkamp; Ellen Easudes; Sylvia Kalmbach; John and Tudy Reeves; one cousin, Evelyn Stevens and many nieces and nephews and friends. He was proceeded in death by his sister, Joanne Reeves; brothers-in-law, Albert Easudes, Willard Feldkamp and Elmer Kalmbach; and sister-in-law, Arleen Feldkamp. Services will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 120 South State Street, Ann Arbor with Rev. Joanne Bartelt, officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the First United Methodist Church, Ann Arbor or the Evangelical Home of Saline. Envelopes will be available at the church where friends may begin calling at 1 p.m. until time of Service. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home, Saline.
