Mary was the daughter of Clemente Batastini and Sarah Dean.

Marriage record revealed Joseph Brescia and Mary Batastini married on Oct 7, 1891 in Muscogee Co, Georgia.

The 1900 census revealed they were living in Columbus Ward 1, Muscogee Co, Georgia. Joseph was born in Aug 1863 and Mary was born in Aug 1868. Joseph and his parents were born in Italy, Mary and her mother were born in Georgia, her father was born in Italy. Joseph immigrated to America in 1879. They had been married nine years, had 4 children all still living. Household members: Joseph Brascia (36), Mary A Brascia (31), Marie T Brascia (6), Angela Brascia (5), Cecelia Brascia (2) and Clevita Brascia (6/12).

On Jun 30, 1902 their seven month old daughter, Margherete died.

On Oct 18, 1904 their four week old son, Joseph died.

The 1910 census revealed Joseph was a musician. They had been married nineteen years, had 10 children, five still living. Household members: Joseph Brescia (47), Mary Brescia (42), Marie Brescia (16), Angela Brescia (15), Cecilia Brescia (12), Clementa Brescia (10) and Josephine Brescia (2).

Mrs. Mary Brescia, 44 years old, Wife of Mr. Joseph Brescia of 917 East thirteenth street, died Saturday morning at 11:30 o'clock after a long illness at Warm Springs. The death of Mrs. Brescia was a shock, as Mr. Brescia had just left his wife and she was thought to be getting well. Mr. Brescia was on the train en-route to Columbus from Warm Springs and upon arrival in Columbus was told, by friends, of his wife's death.

The remains will be brought to Columbus via the Southern Railway Monday Morning and the funeral services will immediately follow from the Church of the Holly Family. Internment will be in Linwood cemetery.

Mrs. Joe BRESCIA Died Saturday Morning:
HER DEATH OCCURRED AT WARM SPRINGS.--FUNERAL TOOK PLACE MONDAY MORNING AT CHURCH OF THE HOLY FAMILY.

The funeral of Mrs. Joe Brescia, of this city, who died Saturday at Warm Springs, where she had been for some time recuperating her health, took place this morning at the Church of the Holy Family.

The deceased was about thirty-nine or forty years of age and had been a resident of Columbus practically all of her life and is survived by her husband, [and] four daughters, Misses Marie, Angelle, Cecilia and Clementa. The following brothers and sisters also survive her: Messrs. F. J., A. F. and P. J. Batastini. Her sisters are Mrs. Rosa Bryant, Mrs. J. L. Payhne and Mrs. Kendrick. Besides these, [other] relatives with many friends mourn her passing away.

The funeral services were held immediately after the Southern train arrived from Atlanta and was conducted by Father Schlenke. The body was laid to rest in Linwood cemetery."

Neither of her sons were listed in the obituary.
