He had suffered from arthritis for several years particularly in the left leg, which he hurt playing football at Windsor High School back in the 90's. He was a nabive of Windsor, the son of Edgar H. and Laura (Hoisington) Austin. He graduated from Windsor High school in 1895 and worked for several years at the Windsor Savings Bank.He afterwards was private secretary to the late Augustus Saint-Gaudens in Cornish and then worked at Vermont State Prison. He also was employed at the Central Vermont railroad freight office and the National Acme Co.
He was married in New York City in 1907, to Winifred Conway, who died in 1925. He leaves three children, Laura of Sptingfield, VT, Harry of Windsor, and Walter who is president of the senior class at Windsor High School.
Funeral services were held Sunday at the Rachel Harlow Methodist church with Rev. M. A. Turner officiated.
