James Lynn Jr. (Jim) was the second child born on February 20, 1876, also in Del Rey, Illinois. James married Alvina Olive Clement on May 2, 1904 in Baker City, Oregon. Vina was born February 3, 1887 in Bridgeport, Oregon to Abram and Lovina Smith Clement. (The Clement's were also early settlers of eastern Oregon. Vina's paternal grandfather, Cyrus, built the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Baker City). A daughter, Edith Izora Lynn, was born to James and Vina on August 10, 1907. They divorced shortly thereafter. James Jr. married Gertrude Ethel Melcher on December 21, 1919 in Fruitland, Idaho. Gertrude was the daughter of William and Julia Graham Melcher; she was born March 18, 1889 in Castalia, South Dakota. A daughter, Lois Ethel Lynn, was born to James and Gertrude on November 15, 1920 also in Fruitland, Idaho. The 1920 Idaho census lists James and Gertrude as living in Fruitland with Edith (12 years old) and Gladys Melcher, Gertrude's 9 year old niece; Lois was born later that year. James Jr. owned a fruit orchard (apples and prunes) while living in Fruitland. He enjoyed pruning trees and was known to share his talent with neighbors. He also owned a share of the "Meat Market" with his brothers Stewart, Archie and Phillip. He played the violin while Gertrude played the organ. James had gone to Blackfoot, Idaho to visit friends when he had a stroke and died there on November 6, 1950; he was 74. He is buried in the Riverside Cemetery in Payette, Idaho. (Gertrude moved to California in 1951, to be closer to her daughter, Lois, and lived there until her death on 12-5-1965 in Alhambra, California; she was 76. Her body was returned to Payette for burial next to James.) Vina later married a minister, Harmon Edgar Reed, and moved north to Culdesac, Idaho where their son, Clement Warren Reed, was born. Vina died on 1-17-1917 at the age of 29 from complications associated with Clement's birth (11-3-1916). Edgar died in the early 1950's while living in Orofino, Idaho. (Sub: Diana)
