Wheatley , Lee Bertram Bay City, Michigan Mr. Wheatley passed away Saturday, June 10, 2006 at Bay Regional Medical Center, age 88 years. He was born September 3, 1917 in St. Charles, Michigan. He retired from Delta College as the Postmaster, he was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, served as Staff Sergeant with the U.S. Army during WW II and has reside in Bay City for many years. He is survived by one sister-in-law, Linda Wheatley ; one brother-in-law; Joseph Louchardt; and several nieces and nephews. In 1942 he married the former Margaret Birkenheier in Bowling Green, OH and she preceded him in death in 1999. Lee was also predeceased by his parents; John and Nina (Gulliver) Wheatley ; four sisters: Ellen Cross, Clara Jones, Mildred Thompson and Beth Louchardt; and two brothers, John Wheatley and Robert Wheatley . The Funeral Liturgy and Rite of Committal Service will take place Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Steven M. Gavit. Followed by Military Honors Conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. Private interment will take place in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Tuesday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Vigil of the Deceased will take place Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Wheatley will be taken to the church on Wednesday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. and until the time of services.
