Born in Vance County on January 26, 1938, he was the son of the late Clarence Edward Abbott and Ruth Roberson Abbott. Mr. Abbott was a retired tobacco farmer and was a former employee of Burkhart.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 pm in the J. M. White Funeral Home by the Rev. Gary Harper. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by two daughters, Vickie A. Duffer of South Boston, VA and Priscilla Abbott of Henderson; three sons, Ricky Abbott of Wendell, Mike Abbott of Norlina, and Dennis Abbott of Henderson; two sisters, Shelbie A. King of Huntsville, AL and Alice A. Johnson of Henderson; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
